The Hawaiian Monk Seal is endangered…and delightful! Captain Steve Hogan caught their antics on video! In this clip there is are two Monk seals that are hunting in a cave with a White tip reef shark. Ilio-holo-i-ka-uaua, The Hawaiian monk seal, Monachus schauinslandi, is Hawaii’s only pinniped. It is a species that is considered endemic to the islands.The population of the Hawaiian monk seal is currently estimated to be between 1,500 and 1,200 individuals. They are considered an endangered species.
