Captain Steve Hogan and Eve Hogan are the owners of Makena Coast Dive Charters, Inc.
Captain Steve Hogan, founder and owner of the company, is a USCG licensed captain, dive instructor and award winning cinematographer.
Steve has shot for NatGeo WILD (check out the new Aloha Vet series!), Discovery, the Travel Channel and several other productions. Steve has lived and dived in Hawaii for over 30 years.
Steve is an avid photographer and videographer focusing on (literally!) the underwater world. He is great at capturing the grace and beauty of the sea life while featuring the beauty and peace of the natural surroundings.
Steve was born in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and made his way west in his early 20’s to escape the cold winters. He trained as a commercial diver in Washington and then continued his trek westward, leading him to Maui—home ever since. He began his career on Maui as a fisherman and eventually his love for recreational diving led him to building Makena Coast Dive Charters—now in business over 25 years.
Eve Eschner Hogan, is the “first mate” (and only!) of Captain Steve’s.
Eve and Steve met on Maui over 20 years ago while Eve was on vacation and he took her on her first introductory dive at Nahuna Point—where she fell in love with diving, and with him! They have been together ever since.
Eve is an inspirational speaker and author of several books including The EROS Equation: A Soul-ution for Relationships, How to Love Your Marriage, Intellectual Foreplay, Virtual Foreplay and Way of the Winding Path. She is a two-time story contributor to Chicken Soup for the Ocean Lover’s Soul, as well as other Chicken Soup books. She is a writer for Spirituality and Health Magazine.
In addition to Makena Coast Dive Charters, Eve and Steve own The Sacred Garden in Makawao which is kept open free to the public daily by the non-profit the Divine Nature Alliance, of which Eve is the Executive Director. Eve also owns Heart Path Journeys which offers personalized, private retreats for individuals, couples, families and small groups.
