Dive Site Descriptions For Maui: Molokini and the Makena Coast
| Our daily Scuba Diving Charters leave out of the Kihei Boat Ramp (located just outside of the top of the picture below) on the south shore of Maui, Hawaii, and offer two tank dives. The first one is usually at Molokini Crater, a beautiful Marine Sanctuary three miles off the shore of Maui, and the second is either in a shallower location at Molokini or along the south coast of Maui (Kihei, Wailea, Makena) where the Green Sea Turtles live.
All scuba dive sites are weather depending. We personalize the dive charter each day based on skill level, weather conditions, personal preferences and sea life activity. We offer Expedition Dive Days on Wednesdays and Fridays featuring more advanced dives like the Back Wall of Molokini. We offer Introductory Scuba Dives (Discover Scuba) on our Family Dive Days, Tuesdays and Thursdays. |

| The Makena Coast of Maui (the south coast) offers a very different terrain than Molokini and remarkably different sea life for being such a short distance apart. The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles live along Maui's beautiful coast line making the diving extra delightful. Spotted Eagle Rays, White Tipped Reef Sharks, Frog Fish, and a myriad others species are often seen at these dive sites. Of course, finding them is more likely when you have one of our expert Dive Masters and Instructors leading you!
The picture above shows the locations of many of the Wailea and Makena coastline dive sites. Pu'u O'lai, The WWII Tank and Landing Craft, Turtle Town (Nahuna Point) and the St. Anthony Wreck (not shown in the picture but located just above the top of the pic.) The newest dive site, the WWII airplane is located off the north coast of Kihei. |

| Molokini Crater is a unique dive site in that it is a shallow water crater in the middle of a deep water channel. It is a Marine and Bird Sanctuary in the midst of the Humpback Whale Sanctuary.
The visibility is almost always 100-200 feet and even after 25 years of scuba diving there, we still see things we've never seen before. The Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles do not visit Molokini, but from time to time the rare Hawksbill turtle will be seen there. Manta Rays, Sharks, Moray Eels and millions of tropical, colorful fish can be seen. The dive sites include, Reef's End, Mid-Reef, Enenu'i and the Back Wall. |
